Final Major Project new

mOTH

synopsis

A woman caputures a moth with her hands. As a symbol for an already broken and non existent relationship she tries to keep the moth near her under a drinking glass. As much as she tries to keep the moth as well as the relationship, in the end they both, dissapear.

The characters

The woman

Our main character is a young woman, not wanting to let a relationship go. She is fragile, a little bit melancholic, but at the same time still hopeful that she can still capture the man’s heart yet again. Despite not getting any love our affection back, she still is trying to save what is already lost, or might have never been there.

The moth

The moth, both symbolizing the relationship as well as death/the death of the relationship. The moth comes at night, when there is light and disappears during the day. In a nutshell the moth just wants to be free.

The man

Even though he is physically there, the young man is not really present. In the story we only see him sleeping and does not really show interest in the young woman.

Storybboard

First storyboard. After a tutorial with Nica I made a few changes.

very rough Animatic. Because I feel like the animation and certain images will change during the summer, I did not want to put too much effort into the animatic. My action plan at the minute to first animate the very key scenes of the animation, the ones that are most important to me and see how quick I am.

I had a very helpful tutorial with Michael Ho about editing. He suggested including an entry shot that introduces the relationship beforehand, before the title.

He also suggested legthening the pomegranate shot, by potetially adding a picking out the seeds scene, as it is important to me to suggest fertility and the passing of time.

He further said I might want to add emotion in the face at the end sequence, to make the viewer understand the characters emotion.

The same applys tot he floating scene, where i might want to add some movement of the character. maybe empathizing more
